JMBF Secures Grant to Publish Groundbreaking LGBTQI+ Rights Report in Bangladesh 2022

In a significant stride towards amplifying LGBTQI+ rights advocacy, JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) has been awarded a grant from the Embassy of France in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The grant, received on April 1, 2024, is earmarked for the publication of the "Annual State of LGBTQI+ Rights in Bangladesh 2022" report.

This collaborative effort between JusticeMakers Bangladesh (JMBD) and JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) signifies a landmark initiative in documenting and addressing violations against LGBTQI+ individuals in Bangladesh. The report is poised to provide an exhaustive analysis of the challenges faced by the LGBTQI+ community, encompassing legal, social, and cultural dimensions throughout the year 2022.

Key focal points of the report include an examination of legislative developments, societal attitudes, discrimination incidents, and strides made in LGBTQI+ activism. By shedding light on these critical issues, the report aims to foster greater awareness and spur advocacy efforts towards achieving equal rights and protections for LGBTQI+ individuals in Bangladesh.

With the support of the grant, JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France plans to print and distribute 250 copies of the report. These copies will be disseminated to a diverse array of stakeholders, including Foreign Embassies, government officials, human rights organizations, advocacy groups, academia, international NGOs, media outlets, and the general public.

Moreover, JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) will extend the reach of the report beyond Bangladesh, distributing copies in France and to organizations located outside the country. This cross-border dissemination underscores the global significance of LGBTQI+ rights advocacy and the importance of international solidarity in effecting positive change.

The publication of the "Annual State of LGBTQI+ Rights in Bangladesh 2022" report stands as a testament to the dedication and commitment of JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) and JusticeMakers Bangladesh (JMBD) in advancing the rights and dignity of LGBTQI+ individuals in Bangladesh and beyond. Through their collaborative efforts, they aim to catalyze meaningful progress towards a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
