Statement: JMBF Condemns Brutal Murder of Transgender Reshma Khatun, Calls for Swift Action and Legal Reforms

Paris, France; April 03, 2024: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) expresses deep concern over the brutal murder of Reshma Khatun (25), a third-gender individual, whose decomposed body was discovered in March 2024 in the Kagajpukur graveyard of Benapole Port Police Station in Jessore, Bangladesh.

The France-based rights organization calls for the swift identification and apprehension of those responsible for this heinous act through a prompt, impartial, and transparent investigation, followed by exemplary punishment after a fair trial.

According to news published in various newspapers in Bangladesh, it has been learned that the police recovered the decomposed body of Reshma Khatun (25), a third gender individual, from the Kagajpukur graveyard of Benapole Port Police Station in Jessore.

JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) strongly condemns the untimely and tragic demise of lawyer Mr. Lutful Kabir Nowroz, whose lifeless body was found in a pond in Khulna's Batiaghata upazila on Sunday evening, 16th July 2023.

Lutful Kabir Nowroz, 58, served as the Public Prosecutor (PP) of the Anti-Corruption Special Tribunal in Khulna, southern Bangladesh, dedicating his life to upholding justice and fighting against corruption. His sudden disappearance and subsequent discovery in the pond have shocked the entire legal community and brought immense sorrow to all those who knew and worked with him.

Statement: JusticeMakers Bangladesh Condemns Murder of Gay Islamic Religious Leader in Dhaka

JusticeMakers Bangladesh, a human rights organization in Bangladesh, expresses grave concern over the recent murder of Maulana Jalal Uddin Jalali, a gay Islamic religious leader allegedly stabbed to death in his home in Dhaka on April 20th, 2023.

The rights organisation urges the government to conduct a transparent investigation and ensure a fair trial for the accused, as well as take measures to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

JusticeMakers Bangladesh calls for justice and protection for religious minorities in Bangladesh

Human rights organization JusticeMakers Bangladesh has condemned the recent attack on the Ahmadiyya community in Panchagarh district, northern Bangladesh, which left at least two dead and 100 injured on March 03, 2023. 

In a statement signed by the founder secretary-general of JusticeMakers Bangladesh, prominent human rights lawyer Shahanur Islam, the group called for justice and accountability for the victims, as well as an end to the persecution of religious minorities in Bangladesh.

ঢাকা জজ কোর্টের আইনজীবী অ্যাডভোকেট মিতু ফকিরকে হত্যা করা হয়েছে বলে দাবি করেছেন তার সহপাঠী ও বেসরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় বাংলাদেশ ইউনিভার্সিটির আইন বিভাগের সাবেক শিক্ষার্থীরা।

মঙ্গলবার (২২ নভেম্বর) বিকেল ৩টার দিকে জাতীয় প্রেসক্লাবের সামনে এক মানববন্ধনে এমনটা দাবি করেন তারা।

সমকামিতার ফাঁদ: এক অপহরণ মামলা থেকে দুই হত্যার রহস্য উদ্‌ঘাটন

নোয়াখালীর বেগমগঞ্জ থেকে সমকামিতার ফাঁদে পড়ে গত বছরের ১৭ ডিসেম্বর ঢাকায় আসেন আমির হোসেন (২৫)। তিনি রাজধানীর দক্ষিণখান থানার আশকোনা মেডিকেল রোডে বড় বোনের বাসায় ওঠেন। সমকামিতার ফাঁদ পেতে রাখা চক্রের সদস্যরা আমিরকে অপহরণ করে ১০ লাখ টাকা মুক্তিপণ দাবি করে। পরে মুক্তিপণ না পেয়ে তাঁকে হত্যা করে।

বগুড়ায় শিক্ষানবিশ আইনজীবী ও সাবেক ছাত্রদল নেতা আব্দুল বারী মণ্ডল চাঁন (৪৪) হত্যা মামলার ‘মূল পরিকল্পনাকারী’ রঞ্জন আলীকে (৩৬) গ্রেফতার করেছে র‌্যাপিড অ্যাকশন ব্যাটালিয়ন (র‌্যাব)।

আজ রোববার (৬ নভেম্বর) এ তথ্য জানিয়েছে র‌্যাব-১২ বগুড়ার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কোম্পানী কমাণ্ডার নজরুল ইসলাম।

নেত্রকোনায় শিক্ষানবিশ আইনজীবী খুন

নেত্রকোনার মদন উপজেলায় হাফিজুল হক চৌধুরী উজ্জ্বল (৩৪) নামে এক শিক্ষানবিশ আইনজীবীকে কুপিয়ে হত্যা করেছেন প্রতিপক্ষের লোকজন।বৃহস্পতিবার (৭ জুলাই) দুপুরে উপজেলা ফতেপুর ইউনিয়নের ছালাকান্দা গ্রামে তাকে হত্যা করা হয়।

নিহত হাফিজুল নেত্রকোনা মদন উপজেলার ছালাকান্দা গ্রামের ফুল মিয়া চৌধুরীর ছেলে। তিনি চট্টগ্রাম ইসলামিক বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে আইন বিভাগে পাশ করে ময়মনসিংহ জজ কোর্টে শিক্ষানবীশ আইনজীবী হিসেবে কর্মরত ছিলেন।
