The human rights organization, JusticeMakers Bangladesh, is deeply concerned about the forced confession video of a gay couple in Jessore that was circulated on Facebook on March 20, 2023, by a Facebook page called "Motion by Hannan."
JusticeMakers Bangladesh calls upon the concerned authorities to swiftly identify the accused persons in this incident, file criminal cases against them, and provide exemplary punishment in a fair trial.
The video shows a man forcing two gay men to confess against their will. Additionally, it shows a garment worker, a sexual minority gay named Hridoy from Comilla, who came to Jessore to marry a rickshaw puller named Jibon for love. The accused video holder defamed them by creating an intimidating atmosphere. Furthermore, the accused video holder threatened to inform the teenagers' parents about the incident via mobile phone. During this, the accused video holder molested a gay teenager by dressing him up, especially his hair, and putting lipstick on his lips. Moreover, the accused video holder threatened to take action against the gay teenage couple to stop the marriage and expel them from Jessore by calling the police administration and local chairman and members.
Shahanur Islam, the Founder Secretary General of JusticeMakers Bangladesh and a prominent human rights lawyer, strongly condemned and protested the forced recording and publication of the video confession of the homosexual minority gay couple on the Facebook page.
Shahanur Islam believes that the incident is a clear violation of a citizen's right to personal privacy and freedom to form a family, as stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Bangladesh Constitution. At the same time, Shahanur Islam thinks that due to the publicity of the incident, the teenagers' normal life will be threatened, and their lives will be at risk from radical groups.
Shahanur Islam also opined that "Whom a person loves or spends their life with is entirely their personal matter, and their family, society, or state cannot interfere in that matter. The incident mentioned is not an isolated incident in Bangladesh; rather, it is a small part of incidents like discrimination, torture, and killing of homosexuals across the country. Most of the human rights violations committed against homosexuals go unnoticed because of the intolerance and unacceptability of families, society, and the state."
JusticeMakers Bangladesh strongly demands constitutional recognition for sexual minority homosexuals, an end to human rights violations, the repeal of Article 377 of the Penal Code, which considers homosexuality a criminal offense, and the enactment of the Sexual Minority Protection Act.

ছড়িয়ে দেয়ার ঘটনায় মানবাধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠান জাস্টিসমেকার্স বাংলাদেশ গভীরভাবে
উদ্বিগ্ন।

প্রতি আহ্বান জানাচ্ছে।
গত
২০ মার্চ ২০২৩ তারিখ বিকেল ৪:২৮ মিনিটে মোশন বাই হান্নান নামক একটি ফেইসবুক পাতায়
প্রচারিত ভিডিওতে দেখা যায়, এক ব্যক্তি জোরপূর্বক অনিচ্ছার বিরুদ্ধে দুইজন সমকামী
ব্যক্তির যৌনপ্রবৃত্তি বিষয়ে স্বীকারোক্তি গ্রহণ করছে। ভিডিওতে আরো দেখা যায়, কুমিল্লা
থেকে হৃদয় নামক এক গার্মেন্টসকর্মী কিশোর যশোরে জীবন নামক এক রিকসা চালক কিশোরের
কাছে ভালবাসার টানে বিয়ে করতে আসে। বিষয়টি সমপর্কে অবগত হয়ে অভিযুক্ত ভিডিও ধারক
একটি ভীতিকর পরিবেশ সৃষ্টির মধ্যমে তাদের অপদস্ত করে। তাছাড়া, অভিযুক্ত ভিডিও ধারক
ঘটনার বিষয়ে সমাকামী গে-জুটি কিশোরদের বাবা-মাকে মোবাইল ফোনে অবগত করার হুমকি দেয়।
এসময় অভিযুক্ত ভিডিও ধারক এক গে কিশোরের সাজ গোজ, বিশেষ করে তার মাথার চুলের সাজ ও
ঠোটে লিপিস্টিক দেয়ায় অপদস্ত করে। তাছাড়া, অভিযুক্ত ভিডিও ধারক গে-জুটির কিশোরদ্বয়
যদি বিয়েতে আটল থাকে তাহলে পুলিশ প্রশাসন ও মেম্বার চেয়ারম্যানদের সহায়তায় বিয়ে
বন্ধে তাদের বিরুদ্ধে ব্যবস্থাগ্রহন ও তাদের যশোর থেকে বিতাড়িত করার হুমকি প্রদান
করে।

ঘটনা সার্বজনীন মানবাধিকার ঘোষনাপত্র এবং বাংলাদেশ সংবিধানে উল্লেখিত একজন নাগরিকের
ব্যক্তিগত গোপনীয়তা ও স্বাধীনভাবে পরিবার গঠনের অধিকারের সুস্পষ্ট লঙ্ঘন বলে
অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানূর ইসলাম মনে করে। একইসাথে উক্ত ঘটনা প্রচারের ফলে কিশোরদ্বয়ের স্বাভাবিক
জীবন জাপন হুমকির মূখে এবং মৌলবাদী গোষ্টী কর্তৃক তাদের জীবণ সংকটের মূখে পড়বে বলে
শাহানূর ইসলাম মনে করেন।

ইসলাম আরো মনে করেন যে, “একজন ব্যক্তি কাকে ভালবাসবে বা কাকে নিয়ে জীবন কাটাবে তা
তার সম্পূর্ণ নিজস্ব ব্যক্তিগত বিষয় এবং সে বিষয়ে তার পরিবার, সমাজ বা রাষ্ট্র
কোনভাবে হস্তক্ষেপ করতে পারে না। উল্লেখিত ঘটনা বাংলাদেশ কোন বিচ্ছিন্ন ঘটনা নয়,
বরং সারাদেশে সমকামী ব্যক্তিদের প্রতি সংঘঠিত বৈষম্য, নির্যাতন, হত্যা’র মত ঘটনার খুবই খুদ্র
একটা অংশ। কারণ পরিবার, সমাজ ও রাষ্ট্রের অসহনশীলতা ও অগ্রহণযোগ্যতার কারনে
সমকামীদের বিরুদ্ধে সংঘটিত মানবাধিকার লঙ্ঘন জনিত ঘটনার অধিকাংশ অগোচরে থেকে যায়”।

বাংলাদেশ যৌন সংখ্যা লঘু সমকামীদের মানবাধিকার লঙ্ঘনজনিত ঘটনা বন্ধে তাদের
সাংবিধানিক স্বীকৃতি প্রদান, সমকামীতাকে ফৌজদারী অপরাধ হিসেবে গন্যকারী দণ্ডবিধির
৩৭৭ ধারা বাতিলসহ যৌনসংখ্যালঘু সুরক্ষা আইন প্রনয়নের জোর দাবী জানিয়েছে।
