BIHR and JusticeMakers Bangladesh are concerned over the harassment of four lesbian girls at Jamalpur.

Human rights organization Bangladesh Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) and JusticeMakers Bangladesh have expressed extreme concern and protest over the harassment of four young lesbian girls for declaration of marriage with same-sex in Sarishabari under Jamalpur district.

BIHR and Justicemakers Bangladesh believe that the harassment of four homosexual youth girls on charge of marry with same-sex is a clear violation of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights.

The news published on September 21, 2022 in various newspapers including the online version of Ekatar TV, Daily Jugantar and BanglaNews24.com sated that a girl married another girl in Hatbari village of Doyle Union in Sarishabari, Jamalpur. Local peoples have handed over two young girls and their two accomplices to the police on charges of same-sex marriage.

Wednesday, September 21, 2022, the interviews of the two young gills were taken in the presence of hundreds of local people, including Doyle Union Parishad Chairman Abdur Razzak Swapan, at Dudu Mia's house in that village. Later, the chairman talked to the locals and handed over the four girls to Sarishabari police station.

It is known that the 18- and 17-years old girl and the teenager were formed a close relationship due to studying in the same school. At some point they got involved in a homosexual relationship. After dating for three years, they decided to get married. They recently got married with their two other lesbian friends as witnesses.

 Advocate Shahanur Islam, Secretary Genarel of Bangladesh Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) and JusticeMakers Bangladesh has strongly protested the harassment of four young lesbian girls on charges of same-sex marriage at Jamalpur.

 Mr. Islam also urges to identify and give exemplary punishment to the culprits who were responsible for the violation of the fundamental human rights of the young homosexuals lesbian girls after prompt and proper investigation.

Furthermore, Mr. Islam believes that four lesbian young girls were forced to reveal their private secrets in front of hundreds of local people, which violated their fundamental human rights, such as their right to privacy.

 Advocate Shahanur Islam has also demanded the speedy release of detained homosexual youths, providing them with proper security and adequate compensation.

জামালপুর জেলার সরিষাবাড়ীতে সমলিঙ্গের তরুনীকে বিয়ে করায় চার সমকামী তরুনী আটকের ঘটনার মানবাধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠান জাস্টিসমেকার্স বাংলাদেশ চরম উদ্বেগ ও প্রতিবাদ জানিয়েছে।

সমলিঙ্গের তরুনীকে বিয়ে করায় চার সমকামী তরুনী আটকের ঘটনা জাতিসংঘ মানবাধিকার ঘোষণাপত্রের সুস্পষ্ট লংঘন বলে জাস্টিসমেকার্স বাংলাদেশ মনে করে।

একাত্তর টিভি, দৈনিক যুগান্তর ও বাংলানিউজ২৪.কম এর অনলাইন ভার্সনসহ বিভিন্ন পত্রিকায় গতকাল ২১ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২২ তারিখে প্রকাশিত সংবাদে জানা যায় যে, জামালপুরের সরিষাবাড়ীর ডোয়াইল ইউনিয়নের হাটবাড়ী গ্রামে এক বান্ধবী বিয়ে করেছেন আরেক বান্ধবীকে। উক্ত ঘটনায় সমকামী বিয়ের অভিযোগে দুই তরুণী ও তাদের দু’সহযোগীকে পুলিশে সোপর্দ করেছে স্থানীয়রা।

গত কাল বুধবার ২১ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২২ তারিখ দুপুরে ওই গ্রামের দুদু মিয়ার বাড়িতে ডোয়াইল ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান আব্দুর রাজ্জাক স্বপনসহ স্থানীয় শত শত মানুষের উপস্থিতিতে দু’তরুণীর জবানবন্দি গ্রহণ করা হয়। পরবর্তীতে, চেয়ারম্যান স্থানীয়দের সঙ্গে কথা বলে সরিষাবাড়ী থানায় ওই চার কিশোরীকে হস্তান্তর করেন।

জানা গেছে,একই বিদ্যালয়ে পড়ার সুবাদে ১৮ ও ১৭ বছর বয়সী ওই তরুণী এবং কিশোরীর মধ্যে ঘনিষ্ঠ সম্পর্ক তৈরি হয়। এক পর্যায়ে তারা সমকামী সম্পর্কে জড়িয়ে পড়েন। তিন বছর সম্পর্কে থাকার পর তারা বিয়ে করার সিদ্ধান্ত নেন। সম্প্রতি তাদের অন্য দু’সমকামী বান্ধবীকে সাক্ষী রেখে বিয়ে করেন তারা।

মানবাধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠান জাস্টিসমেকার্স বাংলাদেশ এর মহাসচিব বিশিষ্ট মানবাধিকার আইনজীবী অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানূর ইসলাম সৈকত জামালপুরে সমলিঙ্গের তরুনীকে বিয়ে করায় চার সমকামী তরুনীকে আটক করে থানায় সোপর্দের ঘটনার তীব্র প্রতিবাদ জানিয়েছে।

একইসাথে যথাযথ তদন্তপূর্বক আটক সমকামী তরুণীদের মানবাধিকার লংঘণের সাথে জড়িত দায়ি ব্যক্তিদের চিহ্নিতপূর্বক দৃষ্ঠান্তমূলক শাস্তি প্রদানের জোড় দাবী জানিয়েছে অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানূর ইসলাম সৈকত।

সমকামী চার তরুনীকে শত শত স্থানীয় জনগনের সামনে জোড় জবরদস্তি করে তাদের একান্ত গোপন বিষয় প্রকাশে বাধ্য করায় তাদের ব্যক্তিগত গোপনীয়তার অধিকারের মত গুরুত্ত্বপূর্ণ মৌলিক মানবাধিকারের চরম লংঘন হয়েছে বলে অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানূর ইসলাম সৈকত মনে করে।

পাশাপাশি আটক সমকামী তরুনীদের দ্রুত মুক্তি প্রদান করে তাদের যথাযথ নিরাপত্তা প্রদান ও উপযুক্ত ক্ষতিপূরণ প্রদানের জোড় দাবী জানিয়েছে অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানূর ইসলাম সৈকত।
