BIHR and JusticeMakers of Bangladesh strongly demanded that the accused persons involved in endangering the personal safety and security of the sexual minority lesbian teenagers in Sadar Upazila of Lakshipur district by exposing their love and marriage incidents should be quickly identified, arrested, and impartially investigated, and the perpetrators should be given exemplary punishment at the end of a speedy and transparent trial process.
According
to the news published on 16 September 2022 in the online newspaper Rising
BD.com, it is known that there has been a commotion over the ' homosexual love
' of two girls in Lakshmipur. After getting married in 2021 through a notary
public, information was leaked after one
and a half years. Discussion and
criticism is going on in the area.
According
to local sources, they had a love relationship for about 5 years. Currently,
the families of both the girls are spending their days in deep worry. According
to family sources, a love relationship developed between the SSC examinee and
the student of Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila on the basis of kinship.
On July
8, 2021, they got married through a notary public using pseudonyms. After
that, they
continued their conjugal life secretly for
one and a half years. Last Tuesday (September 13) one of the girls family fix the date for marry. But
before that, someone else sent a copy of the marriage affidavit to the groom's
house. It breaks one's marriage. Later the locals and family members came to
know about it.
A lesbian
teenager says, 'First we were friends and
then we love each
other. Later we got married
through affidavit to perpetuate the relationship. In this regard, the local UP
chairman said, "It is a very disgraceful and reprehensible incident.
Action will be taken through discussion. '

activist Advocate Shahanur Islam has expressed deep concern over
the revelation of same-sex love and marriage of sexual minority homosexual lesbian teenagers.
Advocate
Shahanur Islam feels that there is a possibility of destroying the lives of the
homosexual teenagers now that the same-sex love and marriage of the sexual
minorities are revealed in public. Advocate Shahanur Islam said that how the
girls protect themselves from the homophobic people of Bangladesh and continue their future lives is now a matter of concern.
At the
same time, by respecting the sexual orientation of sexual minority gay
teenagers, Advocate Shahanur Islam urges to the police administration to take necessary
measures so that they can continue their love and married life free from all
kinds of discrimination, deprivation, fear and violence from their families,
society and the state.
Advocate
Shahnur Islam believes that the love and marriage of a
sexual minority homosexual lesbian girl in Lakshipur is not an isolated incident
in Bangladesh, but there are sexual minority homosexual lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people are existing all over Bangladesh.
Due to the existing Section 377 of the Bangladesh Penal Code that criminalized
homosexuality in Bangladesh, social unacceptance and
intolerance, state persecution and the ongoing discrimination, physical assault, threats, death threats, assassinations, and
other violence against LGBT people, they are still facing remains them hidden
from the society, Advocate Shahanur Islam thinks.
Above
all, Advocate Shahanur Islam urged the relevant authorities to enact laws for
the protection of sexual minorities’ homosexual lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders by abolishing Section 377 of the
Bangladesh Penal Code as
well as constitutional recognition.

সম্প্রতি লক্ষিপুর জেলায় দু’জন সমকামী লেসবিয়ান কিশোরীর সমকামী প্রেম ও বিয়ের ঘটনা প্রকাশিত হওয়ার এলাকায় তোলপাড়ের ঘটনায় মানবাধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠান বাংলাদেশ ইনস্টিটিউট অব হিউম্যান রাইটস (বিআইএইচআর) এবং জাস্টিসমেকার্স বাংলাদেশ গভীর উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করেছে।
বিআইএইচআর এবং জাস্টিসমেকার্স বাংলাদেশ লক্ষিপুর জেলার সদর উপজেলায় যৌন সংখ্যালঘু সমকামী লেসবিয়ান কিশোরীর প্রেম ও বিয়ের ঘটনা প্রকাশের মাধ্যমে তাদের ব্যক্তিগত নিরাপত্তা হুমকির মুখে ফেলার সাথে জড়িত অভিযুক্ত ব্যক্তিদের দ্রুত চিহ্নিতপূর্বক গ্রেফতার করে নিরপেক্ষ তদন্তের মাধ্যমে দ্রুত ও স্বচ্ছ বিচার প্রক্রিয়া অন্তে দায়ীদের দৃষ্ঠান্তমূলক শাস্তি প্রদানের জোড় দাবী জানিয়েছে।
অনলাইন পত্রিকা রাইজিং বিডি ডট কম এ গত ১৬ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২২ তারিখে প্রকাশিত খবর অনুযায়ী জানা যায় যে, লক্ষ্মীপুরে দুই কিশোরীর ‘সমকামী প্রেম’ নিয়ে তোলপাড় সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। নোটারি পাবলিকের মাধ্যমে ২০২১ সালে বিয়ে করে দেড় বছর ধরে গোপনে সংসারের তথ্য ফাঁস হলে এলাকাজুড়ে চলছে আলোচনা সমালোচনা।
স্থানীয় সূত্রে জানা যায়,প্রায় ৫ বছর তাদের মধ্যে প্রেমের সম্পর্ক ছিল। বর্তমানে উভয় কিশোরীর পরিবার গভীর উৎকণ্ঠায় দিন কাটাচ্ছে। পারিবারিক সূত্রে জানা যায়,লক্ষ্মীপুর সদর উপজেলার এসএসসি পরীক্ষার্থী ও দাখিল পড়ুয়ার মধ্যে আত্মীয়তার পরিচয়ের সূত্র ধরে প্রেমের সম্পর্ক গড়ে উঠে।
২০২১ সালের ৮ জুলাই তারা ছদ্মনাম ব্যবহার করে নোটারি পাবলিকের মাধ্যমে বিয়ে করেন। এরপর দুইজন দেড় বছর গোপনে সংসারও করেন। গত মঙ্গলবার (১৩ সেপ্টেম্বর) পারিবারিকভাবে একজনের বিয়ে ঠিক হয়। কিন্তু এর আগেই অন্যজন পাত্রের বাড়িতে বিয়ের এফিডেভিট কপি পাঠান। এতে একজনের বিয়ে ভেঙে যায়। পরে এলাকাবাসী ও পরিবারের লোকজন বিষয়টি জানতে পারে।
একজন লেসবিয়ান কিশোরী বলেন,‘আমাদের প্রথমে বন্ধুত্ব ও পরে প্রেম হয়। সম্পর্ক চিরস্থায়ী করার জন্য এফিডেভিটের মাধ্যমে বিয়ে করি।’ এ বিষয়ে স্থানীয় ইউপি চেয়ারম্যান বলেন,‘খুবই ন্যক্কারজনক ও নিন্দনীয় ঘটনা। আলোচনার মাধ্যমে ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করা হবে।’
বিআইএইচআর এবং জাস্টিসমেকার্স বাংলাদেশের মহাসচিব এবং এলজিবিটি অধিকার কর্মী অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানুর ইসলাম যৌন সংখ্যালঘু সমকামী লেসবিয়ান কিশোরীদ্বয়ের সমকামী প্রেম ও বিয়ের ঘটনা প্রকাশ হওয়ায় গভীর উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করেছেন।
অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানূর ইসলাম মনে করেন যে, যৌন সংখ্যালঘু সমকামী কিশোরীদ্বয়ের সমকামী প্রেম ও বিয়ের কথা জনসম্মুখে প্রকাশ হওয়ার এখন কিশোরীদ্বয়ের জীবন নাশের সম্ভাবনা সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। বাংলাদেশের হোমফোবিক জনগনের হাত থেকে কিশোরীদ্বয় কিভাবে নিজেদের সুরক্ষিত রেখে সামনের জীবন জাপন করে তাই এখন ভাবনার বিষয় বলে অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানূর ইসলাম জানিয়েছেন।
একই সাথে যৌন সংখ্যালঘু সমকামী কিশোরীদ্বয়ের যৌন প্রবৃত্তিকে সম্মান দেখিয়ে তারা যেন তাদের পরিবার, সমাজ ও রাষ্ট্র থেকে সকল প্রকার বৈষম্য, বঞ্চনা, ভয়ভীতি ও সহিংসতা থেকে মুক্ত থেকে তাদের প্রেম ও দাম্পত্য জীবন চালিয়ে যাতে পারে সেজন্য প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণের জন্য পুলিশ প্রশাসনের প্রতি অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানূর ইসলাম আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন।
অ্যাডভোকেট শাহনূর ইসলাম বিশ্বাস করেন যে, লক্ষিপুরে যৌন সংখ্যালঘু সমকামী লেসবিয়ান কিশোরীর প্রেম ও বিয়ের ঘটনা বাংলাদেশে কোনো বিচ্ছিন্ন ঘটনা নয়, বরং সমগ্র বাংলাদেশের আনাচে কানাচে যৌন সংখ্যালঘু সমকামী লেসবিয়ান, গে, বাই সেক্সুয়াল ও ট্রান্সজেন্ডার ব্যক্তি রয়েছে।
শুধু সামাজিক অগ্রহণযোগ্যতা ও অসহিষ্ণুতা, রাষ্ট্রীয় পীড়ন ও সমকামীতাকে রাষ্ট্রীয় আইনে অপরাধ হিসেবে গন্য করে বাংলাদেশ দণ্ডবিধির ৩৭৭ধারা আজও বিদ্যমান থাকায় এবং এলজিবিটি সম্প্রদায়ের ব্যক্তিদের বিরুদ্ধে ব্যাপকভাবে চলমান বৈষম্য, শারিরীক আঘাত, হুমকি, হত্যার হুমকি, হত্যা, ও অন্যান্য সহিংসতার কারণে শত কষ্টের মাঝেও তারা লোক চক্ষুর আড়ালে রয়ে গেছে বলে অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানূর ইসলাম মনে করেন।
সর্বোপরি, বাংলাদেশ দণ্ডবিধিরে ৩৭৭ ধারা বিলোপপূর্বক যৌন সংখ্যালঘু সমকামী লেসবিয়ান, গে, বাই সেক্সুয়াল ও ট্রান্সজেণ্ডার ব্যক্তিদের সাংবিধানিক স্বীকৃতি প্রদান করে তাদের সুরক্ষার জন্য আইন প্রনয়নের জন্য অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানুর ইসলাম সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষের নিকট জোড় দাবী জানান।
