The
Bangladeshi human rights organization JusticeMakers Bangladesh has expressed
deep concern over the killing of Kausar Khan, a sexual minority homosexual sand
trader of Charbhadrasan Upazila under Faridpur district.

Bangladesh strongly demanded that the accused criminal must be given exemplary
punishment in a transparent trial after a quick and impartial investigation of
the incident.
According
to a report published on online newspaper BanglaNews24.com on November 27,
2022, it is known hat Kausar Khan, a homosexual sand trader of Faridpur's
Charbhadrasan Upazila went missing on November 25. Later, on
the morning of November 26, locals informed the police after seeing Kausar's
body on the Padma bank at a place called Bhangamatha Sura of Char Harirampur
Union of Charbhadrasan Upazila and the body was recovered from there. Using
information technology, the police arrested Sifat, who was involved in the
murder.
Sifat was
interrogated and it was revealed that he had a homosexual relationship with
Kausar. On November 25, during a homosexual relationship between the two, Sifat
stabbed Kausar in the throat with a knife. Later, Kausar was stabbed in
the back, throat, neck and back of the head and confirmed his death.
During
initial interrogation, Sifat confessed to the murder. He also said Kausar
forced him into homosexuality. Later, based on the information given by
him, the police recovered the burnt part of the mobile phone, jacket,
shirt-pants and the knife used in the murder from his
house. Superintendent of Police said that a case has been filed at
Charbhadrasan police station. Shah Jahan Sifat's father Shaheen Molla
has been also arrested for the crime of destroying evidence of murder.
Founder
Secretary General of JusticeMakers Bangladesh and eminent lawyer and human
rights activist Advocate Shahanur Islam strongly condemned and protested the
killing of the homosexual minority gay man in Faridpur.
In
addition, Advocate Shahanur Islam demanded the state to provide exemplary
punishment to the accused culprit by revealing the real reason behind the
killing in a speedy transparent and impartial trial and also to provide
adequate security and compensation to the victim's family.
Advocate
Shahanur Islam, a human rights activist, also called upon the administration to
get over the mentality of blaming the victimized gay person for the incident of
any violence or human rights violation against gay people.
Advocate
Shahanur Islam thinks that the murder of the sexual minority homosexual gay man
in Faridpur is not an isolated incident in Bangladesh, rather, this is only
a small part of the discrimination, deprivation, murder, kidnapping, injuries
and various basic human rights violations committed against the homosexual
minority, including gays all around the country.
Advocate
Shahanur Islam says that the people of the homosexual community, including the
gay community, are constantly being subjected to various types of human rights
violations including discrimination, deprivation, torture, from family to
society, from society to the workplace and the state. But due to social unacceptance
and intolerance, most of those incident of violence remained closed.
Finally,
Advocate Shahanur Islam strongly urges for constitutional recognition to
homosexuals after repeal of Section 377 of the Penal Code and the enactment of
a Homosexual Protection Act as soon as possible.

গত ২৭ নভেম্বর ২০২২ তারিখে অনলাইন প্রত্রিকা বাংলানিউজ২৪ ডট কম এ প্রকাশিত খরব অনুযায়ী জানা যায় ফরিদপুরের চরভদ্রাসন উপজেলার যৌন প্রবৃত্তিগত সংখ্যালঘু সমকামী বালু ব্যবসায়ী কাউসার খাঁন গত ২৫ নভেম্বর নিখোঁজ হন।
২৬ নভেম্বর সকালে উপজেলার চর হরিরামপুর ইউনিয়নের জাজেরার সূরার ভাঙ্গামাথা নামক স্থানে পদ্মার বালুচরে কাউসারের মরদেহ দেখতে পেয়ে পুলিশকে খবর দেয় স্থানীয়রা। পরে সেখান থেকে মরদেহ উদ্ধার করা হয়। কাউসার হত্যাকাণ্ডের পর তথ্যপ্রযুক্তির ব্যবহার করে হত্যাকাণ্ডে জড়িত সিফাতকে গ্রেফতার করেছে পুলিশ।
সিফাতকে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করে জানা গেছে, শুক্রবার কাউসারের সাথে তার সমকামী সম্পর্ক ছিল। ২৫ নভেম্বর দুজনের মাঝে সমকামী সম্পর্কের এক পর্যায়ে ছুরি দিয়ে কাউসারের গলায় আঘাত করেন সিফাত। পরে কাউসারের পিঠ, গলা, গর্দান ও মাথার পেছনের অংশে উপর্যুপরি ছুরিকাঘাত করে মৃত্যু নিশ্চিত করেন।এ কর্মকাণ্ডের পর কাউসারের দেহ বালুচাপা দিয়ে তার মোটরসাইকেল নিয়ে পালিয়ে যান সিফাত।
প্রাথমিক জিজ্ঞাসাবাদে সিফাত হত্যার কথা স্বীকার করেন। কাউসার তাকে সমকামিতায় বাধ্য করতেন বলেও জানান। এরপর তার দেওয়া তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে তার বাড়ি থেকেই মোবাইলের পোড়া অংশ, জ্যাকেট, শার্ট-প্যান্ট ও হত্যাকাণ্ডে ব্যবহৃত ছুরি উদ্ধার করে পুলিশ। হত্যাকাণ্ডের এ ঘটনায় চরভদ্রাসন থানায় একটি মামলা দায়ের করা হয়েছে বলেও জানান পুলিশ সুপার মো. শাহজাহান। সিফাতের বাবা শাহিন মোল্লাকে হত্যার আলামত নষ্ট করার অপরাধে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে।

পাশাপাশি উক্ত ঘটনার সাথে জড়িত অভিযুক্ত অপরাধীকে নিবির জিজ্ঞাসাবাদের হত্যার প্রকৃত কারণ উদ্ঘাটনপূর্বক দ্রুত স্বচ্ছ ও নিরপেক্ষ বিচারে দৃষ্টান্তমূলক শাস্তি প্রদানের এবং ভুক্তভোগীর পরিবারকে যথাযথ নিরাপত্তা ও ক্ষতিপূরণ প্রদানের জন্য রাষ্ট্রের প্রতি জোড় দাবী জানিয়েছেন অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানূর ইসলাম।
সমকামী ব্যক্তিদের প্রতি কোন সহিংসতা বা মানবাধিকার লংঘনের ঘটনা ঘটলে পুলিশ প্রশাসনের উক্ত ঘটনার জন্য ভুক্তভোগী সমকামী ব্যক্তিকে দায়ী করার মানসিকতা থেকে বেড় হয়ে আসার জন্যও মানবাধিকার কর্মী অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানূর ইসলাম প্রশাসনের প্রতি আহবান জানান।
অ্যাডভোকেট শাহনূর ইসলাম সৈকত মনে করেন ফরিদপুরে যৌন সংখ্যালঘু সমকামী ব্যক্তিকে হত্যার ঘটনা বাংলাদেশের কোনো বিচ্ছিন্ন ঘটনা নয়। বরং সারাদেশে গে’সহ যৌন প্রবৃত্তিগত সমকামী সংখ্যালঘুর প্রতি সংঘটিত বৈষম্য, বঞ্চনা, হত্যা, অপহরণ, আঘাতসহ নানবিধ মৌলিক মানবাধিকার লংঘনের একটি ক্ষুদ্র অংশ মাত্র।
সমগ্র বাংলাদেশে পরিবার থেকে সমাজ, সমাজ থেকে কর্মস্থল ও রাষ্ট্র সর্বত্র গে’ সহ যৌন প্রবৃত্তিগত সমকামী সম্প্রদায়ের ব্যক্তিরা প্রতিনিয়ত যেসকল বৈষম্য, বঞ্চনা, নির্যাতনসহ বিভিন্ন ধরণের মানবাধিকার লঙ্ঘনের শিকার হচ্ছে, সামাজিক অগ্রহণযোগ্যতা ও অসহিষ্ণুতার কারণে সেসব ঘটনার অধিকাংশ জনসম্মুখের অগোচরে রয়ে যাচ্ছে বলে অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানুর ইসলাম সৈকত মনে করেন।
পরিশেষে, অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানূর ইসলাম যৌন সংখ্যালঘু সমকামী ব্যক্তিদের সাংবিধানিক স্বীকৃতি প্রদান করে দন্ডবিদির ৩৭৭ ধারা বাতিল ও তাদের সুরক্ষা প্রদানের জন্য সমকামী সুরক্ষা আইন প্রণয়নের জোড় দাবী জানিয়েছেন।
